Gregory Porter New York reviews
Flawless performance/stellar venue
The Gregory Porter performance was well worth the price and the postponement (due to Hurricane Ida and the Omicron COVID19 variant surge).
We couldn’t have been more pleased and reassured by the thoroughness of the staff at the Orpheum Theater as they verified our vaccination cards and admitted us in an orderly fashion.
The crowd as JOYFUL!!! Mr. Porter was AMAZING❗️❗️❗️The band was an incredible ensemble of equally gifted artists. It was such a warm and collectively thrilling experience! I and my daughter enjoyed the concert as a special bonding moment that we will treasure forever.
The Orpheum Theater is equally a delight for the eyes and the ears. It is remarkably beautiful, pristinely maintained and completely SPOTLESS. Perfect. The acoustics are impeccable and the lighting engineer made the performance even more magical.
I do wish there was a no phone use policy, as the person next to me had her phone on full ‘brightness’ and persisted on scrolling through her social media when not taking a photograph of the show. I can understand taking photos, but the constant playing with her phone was childish and discourteous. I don’t think she enjoyed the performance as much as she might have, had she not been, lost in her phone.
Perhaps a gentle reminder to be in the moment and to be courteous to your fellow patrons, from the Orpheum Theater staff, and an announcement prior to the performance might be helpful.
